What could be better than a favourite hobby giving rise to a full-time job? All my life I have been fascinated by any and everything regarding nature and the outdoors; it’s not for nothing that I am now a professional landscape architect and my work revolves around gardens and bio-architecture. From growing up in an area full of green and crisscrossed by water, I moved to Lake Maggiore, into a big beautiful stone house with a wonderful terrace and a spectacular view over the lake and its islands.
This is where the adventure started. In part thanks to the climate, and in part due to my natural green thumb, the terrace soon became home to all sorts of cultivation, from raspberries to roses. Every new plant inspired me to help it grow and thrive as healthily as possible. But what a lot of work day in and day out! And so much equipment and material needed for all those pots, vases and planters, clay fragments, pebbles, expanded clay for drainage, liquid or granular fertilizers, and then, when you’re away or on vacation, who waters the whole lot? From this came the idea of simplifying the work of gardening, while at the same time improving the life of my plants with a practical solution: a simple, easy-to-use and, most importantly, low-cost gadget. Pots with water reserve exist but cost an arm and a leg, and when it’s time to re-pot, what does one do, buy yet another expensive container? Soilless cultivation offers an alternative, but only certain types of green plants can be grown hydroponically. The result of my research is called Florero®, which I consider to be indispensable for all plants, whether grown in pots or in the ground. It’s highly technological but has also been carefully designed with an eye to its purpose; brightly coloured, joyful like a flower, it’s extremely simple and user- friendly. With a single action, Florero® resolves all of a plant’s needs, from drainage and fertilizing to regular watering, creating inside the pot or in the hole a reserve of freeze-dried water , sufficient to quench a plant’s thirst for at least a week. Planting and potting have become a relaxing past-time because I know that with Florero® I am giving my plants all that they need (the only thing Florero® doesn’t provide is sunlight!). I think that the result of my little adventure is extremely satisfying! I’ll leave it up to you to decide if I’m right! |
